BBC is reporting this morning that the German government has moved to ban the export of SIG Sauer firearms from production facilities in the country after it was discovered that the US Government had sold 65,000 SIG Sauer pistols to Colombia. According to the German Government, SIG sold the handguns to the US Department of Defense with full knowledge that they would later be sold to Colombia. SIG has denied this claim and even the German Government acknowledges they received written assurances from the US Government that these firearms would not be resold. We will have to keep a close eye on how this affects supply in the US.
